The Alabama Emergency Medical Services, Region One (AERO) comprises 11 counties across North Alabama.

AERO's contract with the Alabama Department of Public Heath includes ten specific service tasks. [Link to list of 10 tasks (below)]
1. Serve as the local liaison and facilitate relationships between licensed services, individual EMTs, local hospitals, and the needs of the State EMS Staff.
2. Maintain communication with licensed services, hospitals, EMTs, colleges, and state staff and represent the OEMST at any disaster or MCI. [Link to http://www.adph.org/ems/]
3. Coordinate regional meetings.
4. Provide medical direction and accountability involving hospitals, licensed transport providers, and administrators to address EMS operations and non-enforcement related issues.
5. Coordinate Continuing Education and relay educational opportunities for OEMST.
6. Facilitate trauma system development & implementation.
7. Attend regional or state Trauma Advisory Committees, the State Emergency Medical Control Committee, the EMS Advisory Board, and OEMST meetings.
8. Provide required reports.
